Intra-articular injections may be either superficial injections affecting pain in Head’s reflex zones, applied into the bursae, tendons and some joints, or deep paravertebral injections into nerve roots.
Eligible patients:
The injection contains corticosteroids, and it is used for acute pain, inflammation and swelling of the locomotory system. It is applied through an injection needle by an orthopaedist, neurologist, or physical therapist.

The period of injection effect is individual. It can last up to several weeks.
Course of the procedure:
The injection is applied as outpatient and does not require any special preparation. It is injected with a fine needle into the pain site. After administration, you should sit in the waiting room for at least 20 minutes in case you experience side effects.
Length of hospitalisation:
The procedure is outpatient and thus does not necessitate hospitalisation. What happens after the procedure: After application of injection, pain may persist for several days in the surrounding soft tissues. It is recommended to put ice on the site or take painkillers. At least three weeks should elapse between the injections and they should not be administered more than five times a year. You should avoid cold weather and strain for a few days.
